How Does tat Make you Feel? You spent time preparing your outward appearance; Did you give any thought to your Heart Condition? T/s – A Key to David’s Relationship with God… And Ours… Humility Exp – Pride Pretends. Pride is always focused on Externals. Appearances; accomplishments; possessions… Luke 16:15 Truth = Our Hearts are Dark…Sinful… ILL – Sister Betty… always stopped in bathroom before parading Down the center aisle… at the 11:00 Hour… • skirt & slip tucked into back of panty hose! App – None of us is what we appear to be on Sunday Mornings! Hearts = Broken; Sinful; Divided; … Honesty Exp – “God looks at the Heart” = You cannot Lie to God…Fool Him! • You might as well tell him the Truth! Ill – Brother and I slipped in to back porch after dark..downtown Mom calls from kitchen… boys where have you been? We lie… Just walking around the neighborhood. Mom,”Look me in the eye and Tell me the Truth!” • Told the Truth… No use Lying… She Knows! App – Honesty is the bedrock of a Real Relationship with God! • Without Honesty… Playing Religious Games! Ill – Child with splinter in finger…. Clutches to chest.. • Finally desperate enough • Finally someone she trusts… • “Let me see…” • Honesty == Vulnerability == Trust T/S – Humility & Honesty are essential… Repent & Believe = Be Humble & Honest! HOPE Exp – The Shepherd boy becomes the shepherd King because God looks not the way society looks… Looks at Heart. • Hope for all not born with outward appearances of usefulness (looks; status; education) • Deeper Level… Hope that the LORD will see something He likes in Our Hearts. ILL – David’s understanding of this principle…End of His life. 2 Chronicles 28:9 “All of Grace”… Undivided heart… the LORD Loves! The Reality of my Sin makes me Humble. The Reality of His Grace gives me Hope! -- I can’t give Him a perfect life… I can give Him my Heart! |
