Package Deal… Many Fathers and parents are frustrated with Correction because of a lack of Instruction and Direction! ILL – Imagine a Father taking son for his first Drive… • Slap back of head…adjust your mirrors! • 10 and 2 of steering wheel; Turn left; … • Wait! Not Right…. First Teach and tell where he is going; then Correct him for mistakes and wrong turns! Fathers (and Mothers 1:8) are responsible for Discipline. This is a Huge Task…it involves, consumes much of life passion & Energies. t/s – Today, Not “How To”; “Why” Why must we Train or Children Why Our Children Need Discipline (Theological Assumptions) Vulnerable (1:8-10; 19:18) Exp – The world is a dangerous place! App – Your Child is a Sinner! Lie #2 --- Basically Good… give room to Blossom! --- You might find your raising a Weed! Valuable (11-12) Exp – The LORD and the Father Loves and Delights (pleasure) • Valuable to the LORD • Valuable in the World (training for impact!) • Valuable to Parents Proverbs 10:1 App – The Quality of Your Life is determined by the Character of Your Children (self-Interest of proverbs) Conclusion Vulnerable; Sinful; Valuable What is true for your children is also true for you…everyone Here!
