God With Us A Claim concerning His Person Exp – Jesus Is God Incarnate… A miraculous work of the Spirit! … offspring of the virgin’s womb. Veiled in flesh the Godhead see, Hail the incarnate deity! Pleased as man with men to dwell, Jesus our Immanuel. App – Our Salvation is Supernatural… Miraculous Intervention. The work of God on Our Behalf… Not philosophy or rules. A Claim concerning His Presence Exp – Please as man with men to dwell…. John 1:14 – Tabernacled • Jesus is with us…place (earth) and company (church) • Bookends of Matthew….. Matt. 28:20 A Claim concerning His Purpose Exp – In Jesus, God has purposed to Help Us…. He is with Us! • “with” – figuratively… to come to aid of; to help! • Genesis 26:3 – To Isaac, “I will be with you and bless you… • 2 Cor. 13:11 - …The God of love and peace will be with you ILL – Imagine I walk out of building late on night..dark… …. Surrounded by a gang of hoodlems… half dozen! James… “I’m with you Pastor” I am here… to watch this beat down… hold hand after I am here to Help …. fight on your side! God With Us • God Is Here (Away) • God Is Here to Help! (Purposeful Presence) (Against) The Miracle: His Incarnation (God could become Man) Greater Miracle: His Inclination…Intervention on Our Behalf (God Would become Man to Save Us!) Do You Believe This Christmas Claim? Matthew contrast two men…their responses to the Good News. a) Ahaz – He did not trust the LORD to Help…sought to solve his own problems….foolish plan that led to destruction! --- There is a way that seems right to man….
